The Eight-in-Eight Ornament Challenge

Stitch one ornament a month from January thru August.  Buy your January ornament at full price and bring it back for finishing by the end of the month, get 5% off your February ornament.

Finish your February ornament, bring it back for 10% off March, and so on, earning an additional 5% for each ornament completed.

When September 1 arrives, your finished ornament total earns you that percentage off Christmas canvases for the rest of 2018.

Maximum discount percentage can be 35%!

Only stitching fun and no work for you – we will keep track of your progress.

If you bought an ornament in December, you are already enrolled. If not, come see us in January for your first ornament, and let the challenge begin!

Stitching in Kenya/Giving Back in Middleburg

Stitching in Kenya/Giving Back in Middleburg

Last June my husband and I had the opportunity to travel to central Kenya and tour areas from the Chyulu Hills, through the Amboseli Plains, and up to the base of Mount Kenya.

During our time there, we enjoyed three days of teaching and working with the 650 children of the Enkijape Primary School in the Mbirkani Centre on the Ol Donyo Ranch. Our group, representing the Highland School from Warrenton Virginia, taught topics ranging from Vulture Conservation and the US Aerospace Program to weaving and the proper Frisbee toss.

I taught needlepoint to 100 seventh-grade boys and girls!

Alice Peterson’s Stitch and Zips, which are a favorite beginner project at STITCH, were the perfect choice to teach to these eager and attentive students.

Boys and girls alike were skilled needle workers, having learned beading and sewing at home.  Even if they didn’t finish their projects in the time we had together, the kids had a handy zipper pouch to take home.

This summer at STITCH, we are featuring beaded leather goods from a women’s village in Mbirkani Centre near the school.  Hand-made belts and dog collars in a wide array of colors and sizes will be in the shop all month.   Proceeds benefit the center and the school.

In addition, STITCH will contribute $2 for every Stitch and Zip kit sold this month.  Two great products for two great causes – gifts that keep on giving!

The Princess and the Pea is here!

We are pleased to welcome The Princess and the Pea — a trunk show of  whimsical, portable, stitch-guided ornaments.

Quick projects for every season, holiday and pursuit.  Perfect for summer travel!

Ornaments suitable for hanging or finishing as stand-ups.

Stitch guides sold with every canvas —  instructions for stitch and fiber selection, and a photograph of the finished product.

Tons of samples in the shop and a color photo book of all the finished canvases.

Now through May 20, with over 400 canvases to choose from, and a 20% discount!

About Stitch

Welcome to the wonderful world of needlepoint and needlepoint supplies from Stitch in Middleburg, Virginia.

Marcy Harris, New Proprietor of Stitch Middleburg Oct 2015
Marcy Harris, long-time customer of Stitch and a Middleburg resident, purchased the store in October of 2015.

Stitch was recently purchased by one of its own customers, Marcy Harris, in October of 2015.  Marcy is a long-time resident of Middleburg, raised three children here, and has been a customer of Stitch for many years.

Marcy has been working hard to reorganize the store, bringing in specialized hand-painted canvases, a full range of unique and vibrant thread fibers, needlepoint books, needlepoint accessories, expert finishing and much more!

Marcy has been a project manager at a large accounting firm, and while flying from job to job, she embraced a childhood passion of needlepoint handed down to her by her grandmother.

She has also started weekly needlepoint groups in which folks of all ages and abilities sit around the big table at Stitch while sharing their needlepoint knowledge and catching up.
